This one comes 5 years after the huge success of her last album 'A day without rain' which sold more than 6 million copies in the U.S alone thanks to the use of her 'only time' single in many of the telivision adds/programs that were related to the 9/11 attacks , cause prior to the attacks the album had sold just around 1.5 million and was dropping down the charts.
Anyways , after giving this album a few listens , I made up my mind that this is almost identical to 'a day without rain'. Just like that album's first single 'only time' the first single here 'amarantine' has the same arrangements and of course there's that rather , hmm..how do i decribe it , rather 'exotic' song which she includes in all her albums such as her single 'Ebudae' and a track on her last album titled 'Tempus vernum' , we find that on this album there is just another version of those songs but with a different title and on this record its 'The river sings'. I think what I am trying to say here is that she keeps on following a certain pattern on all her albums , which might be pleasant at first but it just gets boring and you end up feeling like you're listening to the same track over and over again while you've actually been listening to different songs.
I did enjoy some of the tracks though such as 'If I could be where you are' which sounds a bit like 'may it be' from lord of the rings , as well as the track ' less than a pearl' where you find enya singing in an imaginary language which she and her song writer invented... that one's quite beautiful and haunting.
It is still a beautiful album musically but just doesnt have anything new to offer especially when you realize that it took her 5 years to come up with music that sounds the same as everything else she came up with in the past.. so yeah.. it is quite dissapointing.
6.5/10

beats that repeat themselves? Sounds like arabic music... They're always the same....
....however to sing in an imaginary language no one else understands :os :os... weird! That must've been what has taken her longest...though I don't see the purpose...
lol..download the songs tee and u'll change your mind about that 'sounds like arabic music' comment. It's not the beats that she repeats , it's the whole style.
sounds a BIT like 'may it be'??? a bit?!! man it's bloody identical! The only thing that differs is the words! ...but well, it's alright.. liked 'may it be' better though...

less than a pearl's amazing! sounds like red-indian style... for a made-up language it's quite good.

As for the similarities in her songs... yes.. all follow the same tone of tranquility... I'd like to hear her sing differently for once ... but oh well..
4 people downloaded the songs but never commented. well only one commented..so thanks tee. :p
