I hate the fact that I depend on the computer so much that I get totaly lost without it. I was browsing the EnglishSabla today normally like I usually do when suddenly the Laptop just shut down. I paniced so much cause I had so many things which I did not back up yet , most importantly my recent artwork which is priceless and irreplaceable to me , so when I tried to switch it on again it refused to log on to Windows. Luckly I had a (hub?) to attach the hard disk to and use it as an external one and so I transfered most of the stuff I didn't back up to my Bro's laptop in order to burn on dvds.
That was such a relief but now I am stuck without a computer of my own. I can't watch movies , can't design , can't browse the net , can't listen to my latest music cause I didn't transfer them to my mp3 player yet , so basically I have nothing to do for the next 2 days ( It should be repaired on saturday hopefully , and that's if the error is from the operating system only and nothing else that's serious). The friends whom I usually hang out with here have left the country for the Eid holidays so that makes things even worse!
I have no idea what I am going to do for the next two days! I need a life , and mostly I need my laptop. I guess I'll just bug my brother to let me use his till I get mine back though I doubt he's gonna let me use it comfortably. oh well.. I'll just go to bed now and sleep for two day. *sobs*

Dude, since the exact same thing happened to me last month and I too managed to save most of my hard drive, I strongly advise you to make your next investment one of those one-touch back-up gizmos. And since you are an artist you need to buy a huge stack of blank CDs or DVDs and every single time you make a new artwork you should immediately save it on an external medium. You don't wanna take risks again.
it happen to me beofre :( fortunatly i managed to get all of the important files .. sorry for your computer and agree it is very difficult to live without computer .. sometimes when i dont spend enough time in the net for a while ( like what happned this week ) i feel that something is missing .. any ho thanks god you got your files back .. wo muscati idea seems good walla .. but the problem is that dvds and cds are very vurnebale to scraches so you cant really depend on them ..
aahhh... that's a huge crisis! Nabs without a laptop...no way, lool! ... I hope you get it fixed soon...
you can spend your time drawing, watchin TV, going to the gym or ..... trying to fix that thing :p.... at least you got your files... cheer up! ... it'll be back to normal in 48 hours... *starts count down*

Muscati : I was actually thinking about that when I was backing up my stuff , well I guess DVD's will do for now till i can afford a proper external hard disk.

Sowhat: tell me about it.. some of the cds which I used to back up stuff back in 2001 stopped working for no good reason , thank god they didnt have stuff that were very important , just some albums which I already got again.

It happened to me a few times ... Instead of investing in back-up shit, and then invest in back-up shit to back-up the backed-up shit ...
Just invest in a Desktop, Loss rates are so much lower ...
