Mobile phones craze

I never really understood this whole craze over mobile phones and why people are so into following every singe phone that gets released. I was out yesterday with friends and family and as they always do they started talking about their mobile phones , the features they have , the new releases , what features those new releases have , the ups and downs of those features , then they started comparing them with each other , and while comparing they bring in more mobile names , wait , not the names actually , the codes and numbers of the phones which I never was able to memorize in my life , and then starts the ring tone talk , who has the latest and best , then comes the display of video clips that are stored in the phone ( which I think is SOOOOOOOO silly btw , I really hate it when people gather to see a clip on a phone , It just annoys the hell out of me for some reason! ) . I can go on and on about the Mobile topics people talk about. A whole social gathering could be spent on just discussing about them and nothing at all which is pretty sad in my opinion cause When I go out I'd rather hear something interesting that is going on in people's lives rather than talk about a gadget.

And gosh , all that knowledge stored in your brain and for what? A single phone which most people probably only use for calling and never even bother with the rest of the features after they get bored of them.

I personally have a simple nokia phone ( I swear I don't even know the code of this one , which most peope keep on asking me about and I always tell them I have no idea at all ) and that shows you how I really can't bother wasting my time in looking it up . I just use my phone for calling and recieving calls and thats that , oh wait.. and I use the alarm feature as well so hooray for me. Maybe in the next gathering I can talk to them about how effective my phone is when it comes to waking me up in the mornings to go to uni , maybe that would make me feel less left out. lol
