Apparently juliet used to be part of a group called "1 plus 1" who made some sort of chart appearance back in 2000 , but I honestly never heard of her b4 april of this year when her first single 'avalon' was released. Sadly that song didn't do too well for her on the U.K chart , managing only to reach #16. Anyways I Instantly loved 'avalon' since the moment I first listened to it , maily for the production on that song which is just mind blowing in my opinion , and only later did I discover that the man behind the production is non other than Stuart Price a.k.a Jacques lu cont who is the person behind all the digital enhancments to madonna's last two tours and is the producer of her comming single 'hung up' which is due in October of this year. Lu cont is known for his very distinctive sounds and weird bleeps/swirls and rocky electronic enhancments ( just listen to avalon 2:03 minutes through , how can you NOT love that sound?) well I don't know about the rest but I have always been facinated about electronica so this is really just my cup of tea. Anyways.. after discovering that he produced most of the album I decided to give it ago , and I was really pleased with the over all sound of it. Songs like 'puppet' , 'Nu Tabu' are some of the higlights of the album cause they feature some of the coolest sound effects you can get to listen to.. But my personal favorite track on this has to be 'New shoes' which was produced by the amazing 'Guy sigsworth' whom I mentioned here earlier when I posted about
'Imogen Heap'. another producer who worked on this is 'Mark spike stent' ( U2 , madonna , no doubt , keane) so that's another reason to give this record a try.
This album might not have the best lyrics you can get to listen to , nor does juilet have the best voice in the industry , but it surely is worth a listen for the amazing production done on it. I hope it does well for her eventually.
