Shocker..

Batman Begins finally arrived here in Jordan yesterday ( yes yes , I know we're late , but then again all the movies that are showing now in oman "the longest yard" , "madagascar" and "alot like love" have been showing here for nearly a month ) , so anyways , being a huge comics fan , especially D/C and marvel , I was really excited that I am finally going to watch it and understand what all the fuss is about , cause everyone I know told me that it was simply amazing.

So I called up a friend who was also looking forward to watching it and we went to the cinema. When I arrived , the cinema was so crowded and I was like bloody hell , I'll never find a decent seating to the show and on top of it I'll have to stand in a long queue. After around 15 minutes of standing in queue It came to my turn and the woman behind the counter asks me "So how many to
'ya ana ya khalti'?" , I was like "ya ana ya what?" and then looked up and saw this poster of an arabic movie starring the ever so annoying egyptian ( no offence to egyptians ) actor 'mohammed al hinaidi' , and I was like , NO NO , I came for Batman begins , so she gave me this weird look like I was some Alien comming from mars , and I was just standing there in a bit of shock , and got even more shocked to find out that the batman show was half empty , and that the silly 'khalti' show was almost full! I just took my tickets with a slightly shocked look on my face and went to my friend asking him 'can you believe that all these people are for the arabic movie?' and he was like , "yeah I already kinda guessed that" cause Jordanians love silly arabic movies ( he's a jordanian btw ) ... and I just stood there speachless.

When I saw all those people waiting in line I really thought they were there for batman cause Duh.. It's THE super cool movie of the year ( well I didn't know that till I watched it of course.. lol )

How can they skip THIS:

For THIS :

ugh.. I guess I just really don't understand arabs...Or maybe I am just way too different.

------

The movie however was a blast , I absolutely loved it. I was hooked right from the start and I really loved the flash backs and the way they explained the reason he bacame batman. The gadgets and the batmobile were cooler than ever , and the whole dark feel of the movie worked so well for the story. At first I wasnt sure about cristian bale being the new batman , but he proved me wrong and I really think he is by far the best actor to ever play the role. I also really loved the supporting actors they were really brilliant , especially the guy who playes scarecrow , his face is so familiar but I really don't recall where I've seen him before.

Anyways , I'd give it a 9.5/10 and I think I am going to watch it again sometime next week.

what the... common man, I thought Jordanians had nice taste... or... they know nothing about it? (which I find hard to believe) ...
I so wanted to watch that movie since the first batman was also great! but tsk tsk... looks like different people have different opinions after all... too different! :S

Its a matter of opinion & taste!

Myself I dont remember watching an Egyptian movie in the cinema, I am a such typical guy who goes for Western movies!

didnt u hate thought how christan bale would change his voice tone once he was in his batman costume?? other then that little flaw i loved the movie.

silly stupid things is not funny or stimulating.... and that why i dont enjoy eygption moives. the humor in it is based on stupid silly directly making fun of others. no fun in that. but i dont know guess it works for some ppl.

Batman Begins didn't do well here in Oman either. By the second week it was down to one show a day at Shatti Plaza.

what would that mean I wonder... we arabs go for silly things? *snort*

3t: I actually wrote previously here in my blog about arabs and how they hate fiction/fantasy movies I guess it makes alot of sense now.

muscati: really? thats a shame. well at least they arent ditching it for some lame arabic movie.

wicked : I actually kinda found it cool the way he changed his voice once he was batman.

I had the unfortunate luck of watching it's trailer in the cinema here right b4 the batman movie..and wow.. I swear I just wanted to hide under my chair from how embarassing it was. I didnt even understand what was supposed to be 'funny' about it.

*baffled* ... perhaps I can guess why... they say aish yifeedna!?... better look at something real...
not something supernatural... that would be too entertaining *scowl*
I'm not kiddin... though I personally can't imagine what they would gain out of silliness... imaganative movies have more morals, in my opinion

I havent watched ya ana ya khalti, but maaany people I know, people who share my taste, said it was a really cool funny movie. So there you go - you can't generalise, just cause its an arab movie.
