In Good Company , Artwork..

I was in the mood to go back to my usual cartoons yesterday , and so I came up with the black and white drawing you see below. There's no story behind the topic , just felt like drawing something cheerful and 'cute'.. even though it was around 4 am at the time I drew it and i was NOT feeling cheerful , nor cute. lol

Anyways.. this is the progress of the whole thing :

Step1 : The original hand drawn img.

step1

Step2 : adding the colors using adobe photoshop.

step2

Step3 : adding some brush shadows and lights to give it a slight 3d look instead of leaving it flat , took me around an hour to get this done.

step3

Step4 : now this took me a long time to get done , cause there are little details in small spaces which can be rather hard to handle , this was to increase the 3d effect. Done using adobe photoshop's pen tool..and took me around 2 hours to get done.

This here is the Linework ,to show the details :

Line work

And this is what it looks like in color , and on top of the previous brush highlights :

step4

Final outcome :

This is the final artwork , after I combined all the above steps and then added background colors , text , some mask effects. Click on the img to view the proper full version.

final

The whole thing took me a little over 6 hours to complete , but it was fun and worth the time.

hope ya'll like it. :)

I love the way you made it seem as if there's a fire burning nearby, with the shadows and fuzzines to the bottom right.

6 hours? You're a hard working man :)

sorry 4 the late reply, haven't seen this but now.

must say WOW!! The drawing is really amazing mashalla! I want to ask, how do you get your lines of the drawing so clean and slick like that? *in the first step*

lol it's been a while I haven't opened photoshop so plz pardon the question if too ignorant :P

it's never too late enigma. :)

The lines are thick and slick cause i drew them like that. lol , wallahi am serious , that image was only altered in terms of 'lighting' to take away the scanner effect that was left on it after scanning , and so i brightned it a bit..and thats all really. I use a medium thick black marker to draw my drawings in case you were interested.

Ah I see now.. So the trick was in using the marker. Pretty smart :D

Honestly I thought the outline is basically a vector, but duh me..

lol

Thanx 4 answering my Q nabs :)
