Obviously to get around I'll have to get on taxi cabs over here , since i dont have my own car and well cause i dont even have a driving lisence yet , and From the thousands of cabs I got on during the past two years I spend here I noticed that there are 5 types of taxi drivers over here :
1. The one who will talk to about how hot the girls are , how horny he is and how he would like to nail every single one of the chicks he notices on the street and then lowers his window and starts commenting loudly so that the girl on the street hears him, which I find extremely disgusting and disturbing and often end up telling them to just shut up cause I am not comfortable with such talk.
2. The one who will talk to you about how corrupted the country has become and how the girls no longer follow our islamic teachings , yet he cusses out every one of them in such a disgusing way using the most vulger words which I am even ashamed to mention over here , and then says things like 'astaghfir allah' or 'al7amdullilah 3ala kul 7al'. I find that extremely hypocrytical ! how can they cuss out so badly and then refer to god!
3. The one that keeps on asking me about oman and comments about the gulf countries and how nice omanies are compared to other gulf citizens , especially the saudis which they seem to really hate for some reason. I dont mind chatting with these about oman , but then they start to ask me if omanis really are gay and thats when i go like no they aren't and try to make him shut up. lol
4. The ones that talk to me about how girls shouldnt study abroad and what use is it for them to study cause her place is in the end is the kitchen and her husbands bed! I got so angry once at one of these and asked him to just drop me off cause I couldnt stand another second of his sick outdated mentality.
5. The ones that don't talk at all..and these are my favorites!

The cab drivers in Australia are friendly and all but some of them can't keep quiet !!
In that case , I will just nod my head or pretend that I am talking on the phone !! It works ..lol

When I was in India I faced some of these Auto drivers who think that every house in the gulf produces oil! :S
Balqis, German?!! Because the biggest number of tourists who visit Oman are coming from Germany.
Italiano?!! For anything Latin, they would add O :p

i have been to jordan couple of times a friend of mine was studying there , so i was in a cab with her , and he started lecturing her how she shudn't be here ..etc LOL.. this other incident which i managed to erase from my memory but remembered when read ur post.. a pervert taxi driver who was actually .... ...Himself while we were 3 gurls sitting at the back seat, we acted as if nothing is happening and asked him to stop .. we ran, laughed, cried ..it was a horror .. allah satr.
The only time I have been in a taxi was when I visited my sis in UK. All the three drivers who took us were friendly and nice and they didn't talk much.

and yeah.. getting in taxis on a daily basis forces u to analyze them. lol

I think that taxi drivers should just do their jobs; drive you from A to B, not make comments about other people and ask questions all the time. It must be so annoying!
